EALS is the leading professional organization representing legal practitioners and law societies in East Africa. With our headquarters based in Arusha, Tanzania, we strive to promote the rule of law, uphold human rights, and foster excellence in the legal profession across the region.
East Africa Law Society (EALS)
At EALS, we are committed to serving our members and advancing the legal profession through advocacy, capacity building, and networking opportunities. Our membership includes individual lawyers, law firms, and law societies from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Together, we work towards creating a legal environment that is conducive to the social, economic, and political development of East Africa.
As the voice of the legal profession in the region, EALS actively engages with governments, regional bodies, and international organizations to shape legal reforms, promote good governance, and protect the interests of our members and the public. We advocate for the independence of the judiciary, access to justice, and the protection of human rights, ensuring that the legal system remains a pillar of democracy and social justice.
To strengthen the legal profession, EALS organizes capacity-building programs, conferences, and workshops that provide lawyers with opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing, and networking. Our commitment to continuous learning and development is reflected in our dedication to fostering legal excellence and promoting ethical conduct among our members.
As an organization, EALS places great emphasis on collaboration and partnership. We work closely with other regional and international legal associations, human rights organizations, and civil society groups to achieve our shared goals of promoting the rule of law and protecting human rights.
We welcome legal professionals, law firms, and law societies from East Africa and beyond to join us in our mission. Together, we can contribute to the growth and development of the legal profession, advocate for justice and the rule of law, and make a positive impact on the societies we serve.
East Africa Law Society offers advice and support for members of the legal profession and signposts information for consumers of legal services.
